Myra 2022 – Myra 2025 Update

Myra’s photos were taken either side of a birthday and the first ones were not quite right – I know Myra pretty well and they just didn’t have enough Myra in them. So we tried again and they were much better. –

I’m about to turn 40, and a lot of my life isn’t the way I envisaged it, but it’s also my wildest dreams. Sometimes looking at my body stirs complex emotions.

Its curves and cellulite tell stories of illness and of times I wasn’t looking after myself so well. But it’s an energy processing machine, a cuddly bundle of confused delight and investigation, a slightly awkward experiential action.

A deep roar of joy and endless laughter. Sometimes it’s beautiful. I’m very glad to get to do this.

Reflecting on my age it’s nice to have gathered some skills and momentum, to be able to make things with people, listen to people, act in the world and be listened to.

And I’m mostly comfortable in my body, even when it’s in pain, that wasn’t true for a long time and it’s glorious.

[Three(ish) years later I took some more photos of Myra]

Looking at these photos I’m struck by my body as a force of nature, a playful character.

In the time since the last photos I shot with Phil, I’ve been struck again and again by my body’s capacity to open space for my clients, to connect with them and enable them to find what they need –

– to hold what emerges and allow it to move through.

I’ve been struck by my body’s capacity to revel in pleasure – to sit and move in pain too – to feel all feelings and keep moving.

I love this body in its paradoxes, its tension and relaxation.

I love its curves and folds –

– The stories it tells –

– The soft pottering of a Sunday morning, meditation and tea –

– The moments it’s painful and tired, that enable me to slow down.

I am very glad of it. I am learning everyday and I didn’t know 43 could be like this.
