Peter sent me his own photos – and this photo of his lovely garden.
Age? just a number or more than that ? I think more than just a number but with my 70th birthday next year I can understand why we say this kind of thing!
A way of trying not to be too concerned by the passing years and wonder ‘how I got this old?’, ‘where have all the years gone?’ I feel ok until I look in the mirror and see this old guy looking back at me!
I am lucky I guess that weight has never been a problem for me, well not quite true, being naturally skinny I used to hate being able to see my ribs and can at times feel a bit negative! I hate the aches and pains that now don’t go away, mainly to do with my back and herniated discs causing sciatica and other problems.
But I am lucky that the only major illness I have had is testicular cancer at age 31. I lost a testicle but got over it, although I would have quite liked to have been offered a prosthetic one as it looks a bit lacking only one hanging there!
I am lucky in that my family is healthy and have 3 great sons and now 5 granddaughters and enough money to live comfortably. Age allows me to be retired and to have time for gardening which isn’t so easy when working and the family is growing up. So age has been good to me.
The picture of me bike riding in Cumbria is touched by tragedy as 2nd day of the trip, my friend died of a heart attack, hard to deal with, seeing the medics working on him but not able to revive, so tragic and traumatic, but we probably have all faced such difficulties RIP Dave.
I like being nude although this is quite a new thing for me. I love feeling the sun and a light wind on my naked body but I’m wary of skin cancer these days.
Also, since retirement I have started to be a life drawing model and this gives me the chance to be naked in a positive way and enjoy that the drawers like drawing me – I hope you like these pictures.
