How to deactivate them

Its easy to deactivate, just lots of steps as they don’t want you to do it – and its Very easy to reactivate the – you just need to sign back in! Deactivating won’t log you out of Messenger on Facebook. Make sure you know your sign-in details as you’ll need your password to deactivate your account.

Facebook

In the app
1 – click on the three bars top right click on
2 – Settings and Privacy
3 – Settings
4 – Account ownership and control
5 – Deactivation and deletion
6 – Deactivate your account
7 – Continue
8 – add your password
9 – they ask you why you are deactivating your account – ideally in the “Other” box write something about #deactivationday
10 – it’ll tell you that you won’t be signed out of messenger unless you deactivate that too – that is not part of this project, yet. It’ll also give you the option to stop receiving notifications – its best to click not to receive them or you may still get some notifications from Facebook and click on them, which will reactivate your account.
11 – finally – click on Deactivate My Account.

On a laptop
1 – click on the small triangle top right
2 – Settings
3 – Your Facebook Information
4 – Deactivation and deletion – then as above.

Reactivate Facebook

Simply sign back into your account.

Instagram

You can’t do it from the App!! you need to log in from a browser on a phone or computer. First sign out of your account on your App.

In browser
(first sign out of your account in the app if you use it – from your home page, click on the three horizontal bars top right, settings, Log Out).

1 – In browser version of Instagram – Click on Edit Profile
2 – Scroll right to the bottom – click on temporarily disable my account
3 – Say why you are disabling your account
4 – enter your password
5 – click to disable your account

Reactivate Instagram

Simply sign back in.
